Au cours des dernières décennies, le système de propriété intellectuelle a connu des changements significatifs en lien avec l’émergence de nouvelles formes d’innovation et de création. Les industries liées à la propriété intellectuelle constituent des facteurs clefs de performance économique. Dans le même temps, les défis posés par l’essor de nouveaux moyens de communication, l’expansion du commerce international, la mise en œuvre d’initiatives au niveau global pour faire face aux défis environnementaux, culturels ou liés à la santé publique ont profondément influencé de nombreux secteurs dans lesquels la propriété intellectuelle joue un rôle important. Afin d’adapter le régime de la propriété intellectuelle à ce nouveau contexte, d’importantes initiatives sont en cours au niveau européen et international. Elles nécessitent une réflexion collective et un véritable débat.
Organisé à l’occasion du 50ème anniversaire du Centre d’études internationales de la propriété intellectuelle (CEIPI), ce colloque international sera l’opportunité de rassembler de hauts représentants du monde de la propriété intellectuelle et des institutions publiques, des universitaires de renom, d’éminents professionnels et des représentants de l’industrie afin qu’ils puissent partager leur vision concernant les changements passés et à venir. L’objectif de cet événement est également de proposer, à l’heure de la mondialisation, des pistes de développement futur pour les systèmes européen et international de propriété intellectuelle.

Mrs Battaini-Dragoni was elected Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe by the Parliamentary Assembly on 26 June 2012. Mrs Battaini-Dragoni joined the Council of Europe in 1976 as an Educational Adviser with the European Youth Centre. From 1981 to 1998, she worked in the Directorate of Social Affairs and Health, in the Directorate of Education, Culture and Sport and the Research and Planning Department.
In 1998, Mrs Battaini-Dragoni was appointed Director of the Directorate General of Social and Economic Affairs and in 2001 Director General of Social Cohesion. From 2004 to 2011, Mrs Battaini-Dragoni was Director General of Education, Culture and Heritage, Youth and Sport and the Council of Europe’s Co-ordinator for Intercultural Dialogue. In October 2011, she was appointed Director General of Programmes of the Council of Europe.
Mrs Battaini-Dagoni has published widely on a variety of social, educational and cultural diversity policy topics in both Anglophone and Francophone academic journals and international publications. She is a frequently invited keynote speaker at World Bank, UN, OECD, OSCE, UNESCO, and EU meetings and events.

Yves Lapierre was appointed Commissioner and CEO of the French patent and trademark office in August 2010. He is a graduate of the École Polytechnique (X74) and has a Doctorate in Physics. Before joining the Office, he worked in industry and research, with a consistently strong focus on innovation. Until 1992, he occupied several posts within the
Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), in France and at Stanford University, USA. He then joined Safran-Hispano Suiza as Commercial and Programmes Director. In 1994, he moved to the CEA, where he was successively Head of Department then Deputy Director of the “Fuel cycle” division.
He also headed up the “Silva” project. In 2001, Yves Lapierre joined the Areva group as the Director of Industrialisation for STMI (subsidiary of Areva/EDF), where he was appointed CEO in 2003. He was then named CEO of Areva TA (Technicatome) in 2009.

Professor Beretz is a graduate in Pharmacology. He spent one year as a Post-doctorate at the Weizman Institute of Science (Rehovot, Israel). Since 1990, he is a member of the Pharmacology faculty of the University of Strasbourg.
As a professor of pharmacology, he participated in teaching of molecular pharmacology and therapeutics in pharmacy for master degrees. His research deals with thrombotic disorders, vascular pharmacology and chronic vascular diseases.
He was Vice-President in charge of technology transfer, and then President of the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg.
He was elected in January 2009 as the first president of the University of Strasbourg, resulting from the innovative merger of the three previous universities. He faced the challenge of managing the biggest, most multidisciplinary French universities, while at the same time implementing the new law on autonomy of universities. He is also supervising two major projects essential for the future of this institution: the “Operation campus”, where the University obtained a 375 million € endowment for improvement of campus buildings, and “Investments for the future”, and “Excellence Initiative”, a series of competitive call for projects which could yield a total of 1.8 billion € of endowment. The University of Strasbourg is one of the first three winners of “Excellence Initiative” competition.
He has been reelected in December 2012 for a second 4-year term as president of the University of Strasbourg and is the chairman since May 2014 of the League of European Research Universities (LERU).

Christophe Geiger is Associate Professor, Director General and Director of the Research Department of the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI), University of Strasbourg (France), where he teaches intellectual property, European Union law and competition law.
He studied both French and German law at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and the University of Saarbrücken and graduated from both universities. After completing a master degree in intellectual property at the University of Montpellier, he received his doctorate in December 2003 from this university with his thesis Copyright and the Public's Right to Information.
This work received a prize from the French Institut de recherche en propriété intellectuelle (best thesis of the year in IP-Law) and was published in September 2004 by Litec. He then joined the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law in Munich (Germany), where he was in charge of the Department "France and French-Speaking African countries" and in 2007 the University of Strasbourg. He has also taught at the University of Cambridge, Montpellier, Versailles St-Quentin, Copenhagen, Ludwig-Maximilian of Munich, Toledo (US), Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), Skopje (Macedonia), Alicante, Belgrade, Nottingham and in the IP summer program of the Santa Clara University School of Law (US). He specializes in national, European, international and comparative intellectual property law, has drafted reports for the European institutions and acts as external expert for the European Parliament and the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM).

He is also General Editor of the Collection of the CEIPI published by LexisNexis, co-editor of the EIPIN series published by Edward Elgar and member of the editorial board of several journals on IP law. António Campinos became President of OHIM on 1st October 2010. Mr Campinos is 46 years old, and a native of Portugal. After studying law at the Universities of Montpellier and Nancy, he worked in banking before moving to the public sector. Mr Campinos became IP Commissioner and President of the Directive Council of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) of Portugal in 2005.
Mr Campinos was also Chairman of the Ad Hoc working group on the Legal Development of the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks. Mr Campinos has had strong links with OHIM for many years. From November 2005 to November 2007, he was head of the Portuguese delegation to OHIM´s governing body, its Administrative Board, and became its Chairman in November 2007, prior to his election as President.

Professor Drexl is the Director of the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law in Munich (since 2002 a Honorary Professor at the University of Munich and a member of the Bavarian Academy of Science. As the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), Professor Drexl is responsible for an LL.M. program in IP and competition law with international outreach. He was the first Chair of the Academic Society for Competition Law (ASCOLA) from 2003 to 2013, and he is a vice-president of the Association Internationale de Droit Economique (AIDE).

Bruno van Pottelsberghe was Chief Economist of the European Patent Office (EPO), from 2005 to 2007. He is Advisor to the President and Rector of the ULB for technology transfer issues since 2004 and is Non-Resident Research Fellow at Bruegel, a Brussels-based Think-Tank, since 2007.
His research focuses on patent systems, the valuation of patents, and on the role of IPRs. His recent articles were published well-known scientific journals, including Research Policy, Journal of Public Economics, and Industrial and Corporate Change.
